In a recent news article about a Social Security scam, Former Sopranos actor Raymond Franza is accused of claiming nearly $13,000 in Social Security disability benefits and never telling the government he was also getting $4,000 a month in private insurance payments from State Farm Insurance.
Franza was involved in a car accident that caused the disability claim. The car crash happened in the spring of last year, authorities said. Franza was injured enough to apply for disability coverage through the Social Security Administration and, according to prosecutors, he collected $12,946 between June 2008 and August 2009.
He was charged with third-degree grand larceny, third-degree criminal possession of stolen property and making a punishable false written statement.
